FPV Drone Filming

FPV Drone Cinematography

High-Speed. Close-Proximity. Immersive.

Dynamic FPV drone filming for motorsport, action sports, marine productions and demanding cinematic sequences across Malta and Europe.

Some action simply moves too fast for conventional cameras.

SkyVisuals specialises in high-speed FPV drone cinematography, placing the camera directly into the action — chasing racing cars, motorcycles, powerboats and athletes from perspectives that would be extremely difficult to achieve with conventional filming equipment.

Our FPV drones combine exceptional speed and manoeuvrability with the freedom to fly low, accelerate rapidly, change direction and follow moving subjects at close range.

The result is footage that doesn’t simply show the action.

It makes the viewer feel part of it.

What is FPV Drone Cinematography?

FPV stands for First Person View.

Unlike conventional camera drones, an FPV drone is flown through video goggles that give the pilot a real-time view from the aircraft.

This creates an entirely different style of aerial cinematography.

FPV drones can accelerate rapidly, fly close to the ground, dive, climb, bank through corners and closely follow fast-moving subjects.

Instead of observing the action from a distance, the camera can move with the action.

For the audience, the result is a much more immersive sense of movement, speed and scale.

Built for Speed

When Conventional Drones Can’t Keep Up

FPV drones are particularly suited to subjects where speed, proximity and manoeuvrability are essential.

Motorsport

Follow racing cars and motorcycles through straights, braking zones and corners while keeping the camera close to the vehicle and creating a genuine sensation of speed.

Marine & Powerboats

Track high-performance boats at speed, skim above the water and transition dynamically around the vessel to create dramatic perspectives that conventional aerial filming cannot easily reproduce.

Action Sports

Follow athletes through fast, unpredictable movement while moving between low-level tracking shots and dramatic aerial perspectives.

Mountains & Outdoor Adventure

Fly through valleys, alongside mountain terrain and across dramatic landscapes, combining the excitement of FPV flight with the scale and beauty of the natural environment.

More Than Just Flying Fast

FPV Piloting Meets Cinematography

Flying an FPV drone quickly is one skill.

Flying it quickly while creating a beautiful cinematic shot is another.

Richard Geres, SkyVisuals’ senior drone pilot and cinematographer, combines extensive FPV flying experience with an understanding of camera movement, composition, timing and visual storytelling.

Every flight is approached as a moving camera shot.

The objective isn’t simply to follow the subject. It is to anticipate its movement and position the drone where speed, background, light and perspective combine to create the strongest image.

That distinction is particularly important during high-speed sequences, where the pilot may have only seconds to establish the composition, match the subject’s speed and execute the planned camera movement.

The drone is the camera. The flight path is the camera movement.

FPV + Traditional Aerial Cinematography

The Best Productions Often Use Both

FPV and conventional cinematic drones create very different visual experiences.

FPV excels at speed, movement, proximity and immersion.

Traditional stabilised camera drones excel at scale, precision, smooth cinematic movement and sweeping establishing shots.

SkyVisuals can combine both approaches within the same production.

A sequence might begin with a wide cinematic aerial establishing the location before cutting to an FPV drone flying metres above the ground and accelerating alongside the subject.

The combination gives editors considerably more visual variety and allows a production to move naturally between cinematic beauty and high-energy action.

From Malta to Europe

FPV Drone Filming Across Europe

SkyVisuals is based in Malta and available for productions throughout Europe.

Our FPV work has taken us from the Mediterranean to racetracks, coastlines and mountain environments across Europe.

For productions outside Malta, we can work directly with production companies, agencies, sporting organisations and brands to plan the required aerial sequences before arriving on location.

Where appropriate, flight paths, subject movement and filming sequences can be planned in advance so that valuable production time on location is used efficiently.

Planning the Shot

Precision Before Speed

The most impressive FPV sequences rarely happen by accident.

High-speed tracking requires coordination between the pilot, subject and production team.

Before filming, we consider:

The subject
How fast will it move and how predictable is its trajectory?

The environment
Where are the obstacles, terrain, spectators and potential flight paths?

The camera position
Should the drone chase, lead, orbit, cross or fly alongside the subject?

The sequence
Where should the shot begin and end, and how will it work within the finished edit?

Safety and operational requirements
The flight is planned around the location, people, vehicles, airspace and applicable operational requirements.

This planning allows us to create aggressive-looking camera movement while keeping the actual operation controlled and deliberate.

Your Vision. Our Flight Path.

Sometimes a director knows exactly what shot they want.

Sometimes they simply know they want something spectacular.

We can work either way.

Give us the subject, location and creative objective and we can help determine whether FPV is the right filming platform — and suggest flight paths and camera movements designed around the production.

From chasing a racing vehicle to following a powerboat across open water or diving through dramatic mountain terrain, our objective remains the same:

Create a camera movement the audience remembers.
